Trouble for Team Europe: Scottie Scheffler says he's figured out how to putt

The 27-year-old is, by all available measures, the best ball-striker in the world. He leads DataGolf’s measure of strokes gained approaching the green over the past two years by a margin of 0.47 strokes over Collin Morikawa. An impossible advantage. That gap matches the margin between Morikawa and the No. 26 player on the list. Scheffler essentially hits the ball closer to the pin than anyone else on tour. In turn, he has a better opportunity to make more birdies than anyone else.

Scheffler is now using a thicker grip, hunching over a tad more, and turning his body, among various other technical tweaks.“I see the ball rolling end over end a lot more than I did a month ago, and it’s exciting,” Scheffler said. “It’s good for me to have a little bit of direction. I think the second set of eyes with Phil was really, really helpful.”Kenyon and Scheffler began first working together weeks ago in Dallas, Scheffler’s hometown.
