There are some “troubling signs” the Albanese government “are chasing an agenda that they didn’t actually take to the Australian people,” according to Sky News host Cory Bernardi.

“Last Friday for example, they announced new Australian Communications and Media Authority powers to ‘combat harmful online misinformation and disinformation’,” Mr Bernardi said.

“The fact that this announcement was slipped out late on a Friday afternoon during the holiday season tells us all we need to know about how sensitive this issue is.” He said Australia needs a free media and “not one that is constantly under threat of sanction by government”.
