Jon Johnson PENSACOLA, Fla. – The somber faces of senior guards Aamer Muhammad and Christyon “Spud” Eugene reflected their hurt after Troy fell to Texas State 74-68 in the quarterfinal round of the Sun Belt Conference tournament at the Pensacola Bay Center on Saturday.
Eugene talked about the toughness of the Troy program, which he has been part of for the past three years after transferring in from Eastern Florida State College. “One of my old mentors talks about there are going to be three games where you shoot the ball exceptionally well and you’re going to win those games no matter what,” Cross said. “There are going to be three games where the other team shoots the ball exceptionally well and you’re probably not going to win those three games.
“Myles is probably our most physical finisher. He’s a guy that really can get the ball to the basket and can finish through contact. It was a big loss, but we had enough guys to still get the job done and we didn’t do it.”
