Premiers have demanded Ottawa come up with $28 billion more per year in Canada Health Transfer payments, a move they argue would bring the federal government’s contribution to health-care funding to 35 per cent of the overall cost. Trudeau said the government is prepared to put more money into the system, but did not provide a number or a timeline for any talks with the premiers.
Trudeau said he wants to see more focus on improving patient outcomes rather than simply throwing more money into the system.
