The 1992 film was broadcast in Canada earlier this month without the scene, prompting criticism from some quarters, including Mr Trump's son Donald Jr, who described it as"pathetic". But CBC spokesman Chuck Thompson denied the decision to cut the scene involving Mr Trump was politically motivated. Mr Thompson said eight minutes were cut from the 120-minute film, adding:"The scene with Donald Trump was one of several that were cut from the movie as none of them were integral to the plot.
"These edits were done in 2014, when we first acquired the film and before Mr Trump was elected president."Mr Trump announced in June 2015 that he would run for US president and he was elected in November the following year.
