Former US President Donald Trump has declared himself the “anti-World War III candidate” for the 2024 presidential election in a bold speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland last weekend.
“Donald Trump has sniffed the wind if you like, and he’s realised among Republican voters support has fallen off pretty sharply in the past 12 months,” The Australian’s Washington Correspondent Adam Creighton told Sky News Australia.
“It’s now less than 50 per cent and so if that trend continues then that will make it more likely that he will win the nomination.”
