Bombshell phone call at heart of Donald Trump's impeachment inquiry is released
DONALD Trump has defended asking Ukraine's president to investigate Joe Biden, insisting their call was “beautiful” as a bombshell transcript was released.
In the July call, Trump repeatedly asked Zelenskiy to work with Attorney General William Barr and Rudy Giuliani, Trump's personal lawyer.At one point in the conversation, Trump said: "I would like for you to do us a favour." Trump also offered to release a transcript of his first phone conversation with the leader, saying that was also 'beautiful".
The "sole power of impeachment" is held by the House of Representatives, the lower chamber of Congress. This means that it's possible for the House of Representatives to pass a vote to impeach the president. The memo also shows that the president made reference to the private cybersecurity firm that investigated Russia's hack of the Democratic National Committee servers during the 2016 election.
