The President also signed an order holding China accountable for its actions against Hong Kong.
said he holds China ‘fully responsible for concealing the virus and unleashing it upon the world’ at a White House press conference today.
The President has also signed legislation sanctioning the People’s Republic for eroding Hong Kong’s democratic freedoms with a draconian new security law allowing political opponents to be extradited to Beijing for trial. He also signed an executive order ending US preferential treatment for the city. The two moves are part of the Trump administration’s offensive against China for hiding details on human-to-human transmission of coronavirus.
Speaking to reporters today he also took a swing at his upcoming presidential election rival Joe Biden’s career as ‘a gift to the Chinese Communist Party’.
US-China relations are at a low ebb. Since the two nations signed phase one of a trade deal, the talks are currently stalled with virtually no hope of restarting before the November election.
