How a Fox News host with no government experience could shake up the world's most powerful militarypick for secretary of defence, Fox News host and army veteran Pete Hegseth, has declared another battle – on “woke shit”.
“He does have the president’s confidence and that’s important. On Ukraine and Gaza he will follow the president’s lead.” “Any general that was involved – general, admiral, whatever – in any of the DEI woke shit has got to go,” he added, referring to the acronym for diversity, equity and inclusion. “Hegseth seems to reflect the anti-senior leadership of the populist right – and left. Setting policies for race-blind treatment would be one thing; firing senior officers like General Brown would be extremely disruptive and bring on a crisis in civil-military relations.”
Ted Budd, Republican senator of North Carolina, described Hegseth as “an impressive individual” who he believes is qualified and “knows how to put a great team around him”.
