Prosecutors and defense lawyers in Donald Trump's New York hush money trial are delivering their closing arguments. The jury could begin deliberating as soon as today to decide whether Trump is guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.
"What the government did for the last five weeks at the end of the day, is ask you to believe the man who testified two weeks ago, Michael Cohen," he says.
He shows the jury an email from Allen Weisselberg and Jeffrey McConney - both names regularly dropped throughout this trial - which reads: "They did not call Don or Eric ," Mr Blanche says. He says Cohen was paid $35,000 per month to be Donald Trump's attorney - and not to compensate the ex-fixer for hush money payments to Stormy Daniels - as he claimed in court. "There is no evidence President Trump knew anything about this voucher system. Anything," he insists.A reminder that the jury only needs reasonable doubt to acquit Trump - hence Mr Blanche's attempts to plant small seeds at this early stage of the closing argument.
Cohen said in court this was inaccurate as he did no legal work for Trump at the time the invoices were submitted. "There was a retainer agreement and that's how retainer agreements work," he says.
