Which US presidential candidate would Chinese President Xi Jinping rather work with?It's a question Jennifer Jett, Janis Mackey Frayer and Peter Guo, from Sky's partner network NBC News, have been examining.President Xi has not expressed any public preference and his foreign ministry calls the election an 'internal US affair'.But the NBC reporting found Chinese officials do have a slight preference behind the scenes.It's thought the Chinese would prefer Kamala Harris.
Brian Wong, a fellow at the University of Hong Kong’s Centre on Contemporary China and the World, told NBC: 'I think China prefers the heightened sense of predictability and also codifiability when it comes to Harris. But again, it’s a weak preference.'Trump, on the other hand, is 'far more likely to be erratic' and also 'incredibly transactional,' Wong said.
