People along the Northern California coastline were urged to move inland
A tsunami warning was issued in California after a strong earthquake struck the northern coast on Thursday morning, with forecasters warning of “a pretty dangerous situation”.
Video footage of the aftereffects posted online by local reporters showed shattered glasses and bottles strewn on bar floors and grocery shelves in disarray. The National Weather Service urged residents along the Northern California coastline, including in the San Francisco Bay Area, to move inland because of the tsunami threat.At least 5.3 million people in California were under a yellow alert tsunami warning after the earthquake hit, the US Geological Survey said.
