A TUI flight attendant was hospitalized after falling from a plane at East Midlands Airport. Reports indicate the incident occurred as the plane was preparing for departure, with the flight attendant possibly opening the door and falling when the stairs were not in place.

A TUI flight attendant was rushed to hospital after falling from a plane, according to local news reports. The incident allegedly happened at East Midlands Airport in front of passengers. It occurred at around 4.30pm on Monday, December 16. The incident sparked an emergency service response that saw an air ambulance called in. NottinghamshireLive reports that a witness claimed the TUI flight attendant opened the door of the plane as it was preparing to depart.

They say they fell after finding that the stairs were no longer attached. The flight attendant was then taken to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, it is reported. A spokesperson for East Midlands Ambulance Service said: 'We received a call at 4.31pm on 16 December to a medical emergency at East Midlands Airport. We sent a paramedic in a solo response car and an ambulance. 'The air ambulance was also in attendance. One patient was taken by ambulance to Queen’s Medical Centre.' A reader told Nottinghamshire Live: 'She opened the door, took a step out and the stairs that were supposed to be there were not there for whatever reason. She fell to the tarmac and I heard she was seriously injured.' There has been no official confirmation of injuries. An airport worker also told the website of similar circumstances connected to the incident. Now the Air Accident Investigations Branch (AAIB) is investigating. A spokesperson said: 'An accident which occurred at East Midlands Airport on Monday 16th December was notified to the AAIB. An investigation has been launched and inspectors have visited the airport to gather evidence and make enquiries to understand more about the circumstances.” The airport's operations director Simon Hinchley said: 'As first medical responders on site, our fire crews attended an incident on Monday when a member of TUI cabin crew sustained injuries as an aircraft was preparing to depart. East Midlands Ambulance Service attended and took the injured crew member to hospital
