The knocked-down T129 ATAK helicopters were flown in by a Turkish Air Force military transport aircraft that touched down at Clark Air Base in Pampanga at past midnight Wednesday.
THE Philippine Air Force on Wednesday announced the arrival of two of the six attack helicopters it ordered from Turkey.The twin-engine attack helicopter fleet jointly manufactured by Turkish Aerospace Industries and AgustaWestland was acquired under Horizon 2 of the modernization program of the Armed Forces.The six T129 attack helicopters were acquired for a total contract price of $269,388,862 [about P13.
The helicopters will be assembled at the PAF maintenance facility in Pampanga to be followed by a series of flight tests.The aircraft will be formally commissioned into Philippine military service once it gets fully accepted within two months.'It will undergo inspection, it will undergo acceptance [test], test flights before the acceptance ceremonies can be done and it will go through a lot of orientation in [the] country, together with the pilots and the crew,' Mariano said.
