Ankara has pressed ahead with an air defence agreement with the Kremlin which will see the delivery of the F-35 fighter jets. The US had strongly opposed the deal and four US senators have since attempted to introduce a bill to ban the planned deal of the S-400 combat aircraft. However Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has insisted the deal is “valid” and will ignore threats from across the Atlantic.
