Sue Holderness, who played Boycie's wife, Marlene, is now urging people to exercise caution when dealing with online scams.
In light of her experience, Holderness is now supporting the Take Five To Stop Fraud campaign, which offers practical advice to help individuals safeguard themselves against financial fraud. Addressing the older population, who are often targeted, the actress noted that they are particularly vulnerable due to their anxiety around technology.
People are being urged to pause and reflect on the possibility of fraud before providing any information or making payments She said: “As soon as I ended the call, I knew that I’d made a mistake and I rang my bank and I said, ‘This is what’s happened to me and please when this £680, whatever it was, comes in would you . Reflecting on how to protect yourself against these cons, Holderness said the campaign advises individuals to pause and reflect on the possibility of fraud before providing any information or making payments. “If you think you’ve been scammed, don’t be embarrassed and think, ‘I am an idiot’, which is what we all think, ‘How stupid can I be?'”, she added.
