The Road Trip stars Emma Appleton and Laurie Davidson have opened up about the upcoming Paramount+ series - with Laurie revealing he could have died while on a road trip of his own
Paramount+ is all set to whisk us away with its adaptation of Beth O’Leary’s popular novel The Road Trip, which sees former flames Addie and Dylan sharing a ride to a wedding. But the romcom's journey to our screens was almost cut short – Laurie Davidson, who stars as Dylan, had a brush with death on a real-life road trip.
Fortunately, Laurie survived the ordeal and completed the series, which flips between the start of Addie and Dylan’s love story and their current situation years after parting ways. Music teacher Addie, played by Clique's Emma Appleton, sets off from Bristol in her battered VW campervan with her sister Deb , gearing up for an awkward reunion with her banker ex Dylan at a pal’s wedding in Spain following their heart-wrenching split.
"There’s something unresolved there," Emma said. "Addie has said, ‘You can’t talk to me, don’t email me, don’t text.’ Everyone has their own version of the break-up, their own narrative and no one else knows the truth. They’ve both handled it in very different ways."
