Twin brothers have being jailed over the death of missing Tillicoultry man Tony Parsons who was run down while on a charity cycle and his body later buried.

Alexander ' Sandy' McKellar was behind the wheel of an Isuzu pick-up truck when he mowed down Mr Parsons on the A82 – between Bridge of Orchy and Tyndrum – on September 29, 2017.

Sandy had pleaded guilty last month to the culpable homicide of Mr Parsons – having initially been charged with his murder. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison. Both McKellars had also admitted to a charge of attempting to defeat the ends of justice. Robert McKellar’s not guilty plea to murder was accepted by the Crown. Robert was given a five year and three month sentence for his role in the crime.

He planned to ride through the night to complete the 100 mile journey from Fort William back to his Wee County home in one day. The following day they took Mr Parsons to a remote location on the estate where they buried his body. Such was the location of Mr Parsons that if Sandy McKellar had not disclosed where the grave was, his remains are unlikely to have ever been found.

Three months later, it emerged Alexander had started a relationship with Miss Muirhead – having met on a dating site. It was in November of that year she quizzed him on his past.
