Met Police have drafted in around 1,000 extra officers in 'carefully planned operation' to deal with Tommy Robinson rally and counter-protestsTwo men have been arrested as an estimated 1,000 extra police officers were drafted into London amid fears of clashes as protestors descended on the capital for three separate demonstrations., hundreds marched from outside the Royal Courts of Justice on the Strand shortly before 1pm on Saturday to Trafalgar Square.
“The victim sustained a head injury. He was given first aid by officers and will be taken to hospital to be checked,” a Met spokesman said. Police had said there were “conditions requiring to finish in Whitehall” as they needed “to keep opposing groups apart to keep the peace” and they would “take action against any breaches of conditions”.
“Our first priority is to keep the peace to ensure that those exercising their right to lawful protest can do so safely.
