The Australian Chamber Orchestra’s 2024 calendar has it partnering with a neighbour, getting to the heart of Mahler, and sneaking in a Radiohead song.
This time, Tognetti has curated a soundtrack of pieces from J.S. Bach and living minimalist composer Arvo Pärt of Estonia, to which Bonachela has responded choreographically to create a work whose contemplative mood can be gleaned from its title:The synergy between the two companies was deepened for this latest work by the fact they are now neighbours at
“The collaboration certainly felt more seamless and natural this time, which is what [the Walsh Bay precinct] is meant to be all about,” Tognetti says., the 2021 documentary which Tognetti scored for director Jennifer Peedom.Peter McBride Tognetti says the true power of the film is in its aesthetics. “The music and the images flow like water,” he says. “I’m celebrating the pure again. I’m a bit sick of agenda-driven art because it really hasn’t done anyone any good.”
