Teresa Acosta is city’s only incumbent, voters also will decide spending measure
Two City Council seats, a city treasurer position and a spending measure are on the ballot this fall in Carlsbad.
The other council seat on the ballot is the District 2 position held by Councilmember Carolyn Luna. A former city planning commissioner, Luna was appointed to a vacancy in February 2023 with the understanding that she would not run for a full term this year. Shin’s Form 460 financial disclosure recorded in the City Clerk’s Office shows he raised $18,839.15 from Jan. 1 through June 30 this year. He lists a $1,000 contribution from Carlsbad resident Derek Underhill and $300 from the Encinitas and North Coast Democratic Club. Most of his donations are in amounts of $100 to $300 from individuals living in North County.In District 4, Acosta’s campaign received a total of $20,411 in the first six months of this year.
