The chip shops in Oswaldtwistle and Morecambe are in the top 40 - they sailed through a secret taste test
Lancashire is home to two of the Britain's best chippies. Westgate Fish & Chips in Morecambe and Westend Fish and Chips in Oswaldtwistle have been named among the top 40 in the country.
Fittingly, one of the most recent customer reviews for seaside chippy Westgate says it should be "up for awards" . The review went on to add: "two excellent meals from them: Haddock & chips and Mini Fish Deal. Very clean premises, friendly staff and no comeback from the food later on. "The owners of Westgate also run Priory Plaice in Ulverston, Cumbria. Meanwhile, Westend Fish & Chips is famed for its menu, which features some interesting specials.
Customers cannot get enough of the place, taking to review sites to wax lyrical about the popular takeaway, which also offers delivery. The food was described as "really tasty", "nice and hot" and "as good as it has ever been" alongside five-star ratings on delivery site Just Eat.
