Exclusive: Labour Councillors come forward after Information Commissioner ruled in favour of the Liverpool ECHO
Two Liverpool City Councillors who were summonsed to court over the non-payment of council tax have today been identified after the Information Commissioner's Office ruled in favour of the Liverpool ECHO.
Last week, the ICO ruled in favour of the Liverpool ECHO, telling the city council that it could not withhold the information and giving the organisation 35 days to provide the details we had requested. "At the time I incurred the debt I was struggling with my mental health, including a period of depression and agoraphobia where I was unable to leave my home for a period of time, much less deal with day to day payments."
"I am honoured to be a councillor and will continue to serve the residents of Brownlow Hill to the best of my abilities." Cllr Gaughan said she now has the support of a debt charity, which is helping her to manage her debt.
