One man was taken into custody on suspicion of murder, while the other was held on suspicion of causing and allowing the death of a child and child neglect.
Officers detained the pair after the youngster, whose age has yet to be revealed, was rushed to hospital in an 'unresponsive' state and died a short time later.
As reported by Manchester Evening News, they have both since been released on conditional bail pending further inquiries. Today, Lancashire Police said there was an investigation ongoing. "We are continuing to work hard to establish exactly what led to his death. Although we have made arrests, our enquiries are very much ongoing.
