Two men have been arrested in a drugs crackdown in Wigan. The operation, conducted by Greater Manchester Police, resulted in the arrest of an 18-year-old and a 24-year-old. The 18-year-old was held on suspicion of possession of class A drugs and theft of a motor vehicle, while the 24-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply. The arrests were made as part of Operation Portlock, an initiative to combat serious organised crime in the area.

Greater Manchester Police said officers swooped to execute warrants at two properties in the Worsley Mesnes area of Wigan on Friday morning. The operation led to the arrest of an 18-year-old and a 24-year-old man.

A spokesman said: "The operation was conducted in response to critical intelligence regarding county lines activity within the area. As a result of these coordinated efforts, two individuals were taken into custody. Detective Inspector Patrick Wood, of GMP Wigan Challenger Team, said: "This warrant was conducted as part of an ongoing operation called Operation Portlock, which is Wigan's comprehensive initiative to combat serious organised crime and enhance the safety of our community.
