Police believe the pair were tourists aged 21 and 59 and died after the older man got into difficulties at Crystal Cascades near Cairns
Two men believed to be tourists have drowned in a swimming hole in far northPolice said the men, aged 21 and 59, were swimming with a group of people on Tuesday afternoon west of Cairns at Crystal Cascades in the Redlynch Valley.
It is believed the younger man may have been assisting the older man after he had difficulty getting out of the water. Police, paramedics and Queensland’s fire and emergency service’s water rescue team responded after authorities were alerted just after 5pm. Both men were located by emergency services in the water. Paramedics performed CPR, but both men were declared deceased a short time later.
