The men were found on the roof and trying to escape when police arrived.
A man has been slapped with a fine and a community order after attempting to burgle a popular south Manchester pub. Anthony Woods and another man were spotted by security staff of The Christie hospital breaking a window and entering the Red Lion pub on Wilmslow Road, Withington, on January 10 last year.
It was found that the back doors of the pub had been forced open with the hinges taken off with 36-year-old Woods found with tools in his pocket when he was arrested. The matter had gone to trial at Tameside Magistrates Court last month but Woods pleaded guilty on the first day with his sentencing adjourned until today . The court heard that the co-defendant in that case pleaded guilty earlier and received a community order.
