A 79-year-old man and a 85-year-old woman have lost their lives in the two car collision on Friday (November 11) afternoon.

Two pensioners have been killed in a horror crash in the Borders. A 79-year-old man and a 85-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services following the crash on the A697 near Lauder yesterday afternoon.

The 79-year-old man was the driver of the Kia Venga, while the 85-year-old woman was the passenger in the same vehicle. The female driver of the blue Kia Sportage was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment. Road Policing Sergeant Kosmas Papakyriakou said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of those involved in this incident.
