Work is ongoing to rescue the victims trapped in the wreckage.
The scene of the collapse in Majorca, Spain At least two people have been killed and as many as 14 injured when a two-storey building crumbled in an island in Spain. Up to 10 others are understood to be trapped under the slabs of concrete at the beach resort in Majorca. Police and firefighters have arrived at the scene of the collapse. Search and rescue operations are ongoing to find survivors.
As well as confirming that two people have died, authorities added that one person has been seriously injured. Police said: ‘Two people are confirmed dead in the collapse of the building on Cartago street in Palma beach. ‘Some 12-14 injuries of varying degrees are also confirmed.’ There is not yet any information as to whether they are workers or holidaymakers. It is being reported a false ceiling has collapsed, although there has not yet been any official confirmation.
