Two young adults on bodyboards were saved after strong winds drifted them dangerously out from shore
in Skegness. The two individuals who were 'fatigued and cold' were rescued on Saturday, July 1 when, at around 7pm, they had drifted approximately 750 metres offshore from Ingoldmells, near Skegness.
Originally the two adults were part of a group of four, but the other two people had managed to make it back to shore whilst the others were left stranded in the sea. The Skegness ILB was quickly tasked with their rescue, and upon arrival it was found that the two people had drifted approximately 100 meters apart from one another., and were only staying afloat by holding onto their boards. Stoke's had to adjust the position of the lifeboat for one as they started to fall below the waterline.
Both of the individuals were rescued and given casualty care onboard the lifeboat, which included the administration of oxygen. They were both then handed over to the ambulance service and taken to hospital for further treatment.
