Back in court today
Two men are set to stand trial at Preston Crown Court accused of murdering Blackburn student Aya Hachem.
Suhayl Suleman, 38, and Lewis 'Junior' Otway, 42, are also accused of the attempted murder of garage owner Pasha Khan, who was the intended target of a shooting on May 17, 2020. Aya, 19, was killed after being hit by a stray bullet fired from a car in King Street, Blackburn, as she walked to a local shop to by food for her family.Suleman, 38, of Shear Brow, Blackburn, and Junior Lewis Otway, 42, of Clitheroe Road, Manchester, deny their parts her murder, along with the attempted murder of Mr Khan in Blackburn on May 17, 2020.
A jury was sworn on Tuesday with the prosecution, Timothy Cray KC, opening the case on Wednesday, March 1. The trial is expected to last four weeks.
