Two New York Yankees fans were permanently banned from all Major League Baseball stadiums after attempting to steal a foul ball from Los Angeles Dodgers fielder Mookie Betts during Game 4 of the World Series. MLB deemed their actions unacceptable and warned they would be removed and arrested if found at any future MLB events.

Two New York Yankees fans who tried to rip the ball from Los Angeles Dodgers fielder Mookie Betts' glove during game four of the World Series in October have been banned from all Major League Baseball stadiums indefinitely.

Betts, 32, was catching a foul ball hit by ex-Yankee Gleyber Torres at the right field wall when the fans, seated in the first row, grabbed his wrist and prised open his glove to take the ball. MLB wrote a letter this week to John P Hansen and Austin Capobianco to say their behaviour at Yankee Stadium "went far over the line of acceptable fan behaviour".

The league added if the two men were discovered at any MLB venues or events, they "would be removed from the premises and subject to arrest for trespass". Both fans were ejected from the game - which the Yankees won 11-4 - and were stopped from attending game five the following night, when the Dodgers sealed a 7-6 victoryA raucous 80s throwback horror comedyHugh Bonneville narrates Sherlock Holmes’ greatest casesFantasy holes with lava fields - it's golf for the 21st Century
