Jonathan S. Ross, who had been serving as the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama since his appointment in April, resigned over the weekend.

Ross had been with the office since 2014. He previously serving as an Assistant United States Attorney, First Assistant U.S. Attorney and Acting U.S. Attorney before his April appointment. The Justice Department named Birmingham native, First Assistant Kevin P. Davidson to serve as Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District. Davidson has been with the U.S. Attorney’s Office since 2012, prosecuting a variety of crimes with a focus on violent and drug crimes, the DOJ said.
