This comes after a major drug bust on April 8, where a tractor-trailer was referred for inspection in Rio Grande City .
RIO GRANDE CITY, Texas - U.S. Customs Officers seized over $888,000 in cocaine from a single stop on Monday. The stop was made at the Rio Grande City Port of Entry when officers referred an 18-wheeler transporting an empty trailer for secondary inspection.The cocaine seized was determined to have a street value of over $888,000.
“Our frontline officers continue to employ an effective combination of enforcement-mindedness, experience, and technology, and that contributed to this significant cocaine interception,” said Port Director Rogelio Olivares, Rio Grande City Port of Entry. “This seizure illustrates our commitment to advancing our border security mission while facilitating lawful trade and travel.”
Customs and Border Protection turned over the drugs, the vehicle, and the trailer, to state investigators.
