Study of more than 2,200 infants through the country found that in utero exposure to the vaccine caused no abnormal delays in their neurodevelopment

A UCSF study of thousands of infants found no risk of slowed neurological development in babies whose mothers received the COVID-19 vaccine during pregnancy, adding to the growing body of evidence that immunization is safe for expecting mothers and their children.

“This is a very reassuring finding – pregnant women have been facing unanswered questions around COVID vaccinations for several years,” Dr. Eleni Jaswa, the study’s first author, said in a statement Thursday. After adjusting for factors including maternal age, race, ethnicity, education, income and maternal depressions, researchers said they found no difference in the risk of infant development at either 12 months or 18 months.
