Tom Aspinall, the UFC Interim Heavyweight champion, has ambitious plans for his future beyond the Octagon. He aims to become a prominent figure on YouTube after retiring from fighting.
UFC champion Tom Aspinall may have his sights set on more title glory in 2025, but he's already planning his retirement as a YouTube star. The 31-year-old from Atherton has been posting regularly on the platform for two years and currently has 313,000 subscribers on his channel, collaborating with stars such as Tommy Fury and most recently Piers Morgan.
With over 50 million views of his videos, Aspinall, the UFC Interim Heavyweight champion, revealed he wants to take his YouTube content even more seriously after retiring from the sport. Aspinall currently posts reactions to other UFC fights, light-hearted boxing challenges with other stars, and 'day in the life' vlogs, but wants to venture into travel and documentaries. He said: 'While I’m not a full-time YouTuber, I seem to be rivalling full-time YouTubers in terms of numbers which is great. 'I’ll take YouTube more seriously once I’ve finished fighting. 'I’ll do more trips and I’ll do more collaborations. 'I’m going to start doing mini-documentaries exploring travel and culture and I’d love to go to places like Dagestan and Thailand to train and vlog.’ One of his sons has autism, which is something the fighter feels he can help shed light on after previously coming to terms with the condition. 'I’d like to use my platform for autism, as that’s something that is really close to me,' he said. Aspinall also explains how his channel is part of something bigger than himself as the sport of mixed martial arts continues to grow. 'I’m trying to play my part in this country,' he said. 'People have their opinion on the likes of Piers Morgan and other mainstream people like that and I’m doing it so that UK MMA is associated with mainstream and we’ve got decent, respectable people who represent our sport.
