UFC fighters react as former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is released on $1million bail
Cain Velasquez is a free man for the first time in eight months after being granted bail by a judge in California.
The former UFC heavyweight champion must pay $1million for his bail and will be required to wear an ankle monitor to ensure he stays inside his primary residence unless an allowance is made by the court.Judge Arthur Bocanegra also said Velasquez must undergo outpatient treatment for traumatic brain injury and CTE and counselling for parents of children who have suffered sexual abuse.
The 40-year-old’s home will be searched to ensure he has no weapons and he has also been told to stay at least 300 yards away from the victims of his alleged crimes.for allegedly shooting into a car carrying Harry Goularte, a man accused of molesting the UFC legend’s four-year-old son.Goularte’s stepfather, Paul Bender, was hit with a bullet and claims to have lost the use of three of his fingers as a result and is therefore no longer able to work following the incident.
Velasquez will now begin preparing for his trial at home and many famous faces from the UFC have reacted. That’s despite the fact he still faces 10 counts in his case, including premeditated attempted murder which could see him imprisoned for life if convicted.
