Great British Nuclear announces plans to secure sites at Wylfa and Oldbury to advance UK's nuclear revival.

The United Kingdom government’s body overseeing the country’s nuclear energy sector, Great British Nuclear , has revealed plans to secure land for new development in two locations.

The government recently unveiled the Civil Nuclear Roadmap, outlining plans to bolster energy security and cut down carbon emissions. The government is exploring a large-scale reactor project after Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C. “We look forward to engaging with each community in what we hope will be a long and fruitful dialog. As our thinking moves forward, we will update local residents and their representatives in the Wylfa and Oldbury areas.”

These companies have been given time until June 2024 to submit their tenders. The GBN will assess these and negotiate contracts before announcing the successful bidders later in the year.
