A new weather map predicts a 570-mile snow band across the UK within a week, including Yorkshire. Temperatures are expected to drop by up to 13C following Monday's warm spell, bringing light snow to multiple areas. The heaviest snowfall is anticipated in Scotland, with the wintry storm reaching southern England by midday.
A new weather map reveals that snow is set to hit a 570-mile stretch of the UK within just one week, including Yorkshire. Despite temperatures exceeding 10C in some parts of the UK on Monday, temperatures are predicted to plummet by as much as 13C in some areas. Weather forecasters at Ventusky have issued maps showing a massive band of low pressure moving in from the Atlantic by Tuesday, February 4th. The conditions will be cold enough for light snow in multiple areas.
The heaviest snowfall is expected across Argyll and Bute and the Scottish Highlands throughout the morning, but it's believed most of the western half of the UK will see at least some flurries, even into the afternoon. \The chilliest temperatures in the early hours will actually be across southern England, including in West Sussex and Surrey. However, the wintry storm isn't expected to arrive until around 9am, and will linger for some time. The maps indicate that the snow will be most widespread by noon, with the largest accumulations expected across Argyll and Bute and the Scottish Highlands in the north, and Gwynedd, Wales, in the south, reports the Mirror. The wintry turn will affect a stretch of around 570 miles, albeit interrupted. Cumbria, parts of Derbyshire, South Yorkshire and Lancashire are all set to see a dusting at different points in the afternoon. Glasgow is among the large cities expected to be impacted by the weather, although it's believed the conditions won't be as disruptive as the snowstorms earlier this month. On that occasion, schools were closed, and flights and trains were cancelled due to the adverse weather. However, it's understood that next week's wintry weather will be slow to clear, particularly on higher ground across the Peak District throughout Tuesday and into Wednesday. \ The Met Office has yet to confirm any certainties about next week's weather. It does acknowledge that heavy rain will affect some regions, notably Northern Ireland, Merseyside and Cumbria, on Sunday and Monday before the temperatures drop.
