BREAKING: UK daily Covid cases hit 30,000 as infections start to rise again
Covid cases have risen for the second day in a row as the number of people testing positive has surpassed 30,000.
After cases dropped for six consecutive days, they began to rise again yesterday when 29,312 positive tests were recorded. Today, another 30,215 people have tested positive for the virus, dashing hopes that the pandemic had begun to retreat. A further 86 people have died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid, according to the Department for Health.However, separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 155,000 UK fatalities where Covid was mentioned on the death certificate.The vaccine rollout will be extended, announced the Government
Today’s death toll marks a change in the upward trend seen over the past two days, after fatalities reached triple figures on Tuesday and Wednesday.However, the number of people testing positive for the virus and being admitted to hospital has dropped by at least 10% in the past week.
