BREAKING: UK death toll reaches 45,233 after another 114 die
Boris Johnson plans to set out an ‘aspirational’ timetable to lift social distancing measures
Another 114 people have died in the UK after testing positive for coronavirus, bringing the country’s official death toll to 45,233. The Department of Health’s latest figures include fatalities in all settings including hospitals, care homes and the wider community. Since the start of the outbreak a total of 293,239 people have been diagnosed with Covid-19.
A total of 687 new cases have been confirmed within the past 24 hours. Earlier today NHS England confirmed another 16 hospital deaths bringing its total toll to 29,160. Public Health Wales confirmed one death today, bringing the nation’s total to 1,546. The total number of fatalities in Scotland remains at 2,491 with no new deaths confirmed today.The country confirmed one death yesterday which was the first in eight days. Responding to the latest figures, Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: ‘Another day yesterday with no deaths registered of people with confirmedhelped get this virus under control. Please keep it up.
