Rhys Herbert, known professionally as Digga D, a leading UK drill musician, has been sentenced to three years and eleven months for supplying 99 pounds of cannabis. The court found him guilty of playing a significant role in the drug trade.

A renowned UK drill musician, Rhys Herbert known professionally as Digga D, has been sentenced to three years and eleven months imprisonment for supplying 99 pounds (45 kilograms) of cannabis. Herbert was apprehended at his residence near Lincoln in the early hours of February 21, 2024, while simultaneously livestreaming on Instagram. Herbert, residing on Lonsdale Road in Notting Hill, London, admitted guilt in May to two charges pertaining to the importation and distribution of cannabis.

However, the 24-year-old disputed involvement in the commercial sale of up to 132 pounds (60 kilograms) of the Class B drug at Lincoln Crown Court. The court rejected his defense. During a two-day trial known as a Newton Hearing held in December, Judge Simon Hirst determined the extent of Herbert's drug dealing activities. Judge Hirst stated that he was 'satisfied' that Herbert played a substantial role in supplying cannabis and had sold at least 99 pounds (45 kilograms) for financial gain. Addressing Herbert, the judge remarked, 'It is agreed you had a significant role on the basis you expected significant financial advantage. On occasions others were involved in the operation of returning and collecting cannabis.' Digga D is a prominent figure in the UK drill music scene, with his tracks garnering millions of views online. The court learned that Herbert had a prior record of six convictions for 13 offenses, including possession of a blade and violent disorder. He had previously served 30 months in youth detention in March 2020. During the sentencing hearing, Herbert participated remotely via videolink from HMP Wormwood Scrubs, where he had been held in custody since his arrest in February 2024. James Scobie KC, representing Herbert, expressed that it was 'very, very sad and disappointing' that Herbert had spent at least a year of his productive working life incarcerated. Detective Constable Jacob Saville from the Metropolitan Police asserted that the evidence gathered against Herbert was 'irrefutable.' He added, 'Rhys Herbert has already admitted to his role in the importation and supply of large quantities of cannabis; now a Judge has reviewed all of the evidence and determined he played a significant role in this operation.' Saville emphasized, 'Drugs and the associated criminality they bring devastates communities and we will continue to identify and arrest those responsible who engage in this activity.
