Motorists fear ‘recharge deserts’ as almost half of all public charging points don't extend far beyond the M25 while those that exist are complex and expensive to use
If discovered stretches of A-roads which don’t have sufficient charge points and said the previous government’s aim of having six ultra-fast charge points at every motorway service area in England by 2023, were missed. As of July this year, 62 per cent of service areas had them. “Government is using regulation to improve the user experience of public charge points and needs to address access for people with disabilities.”
AA president Edmund King said: “It is vital that communities are not left behind. To provide confidence to drivers now and in the future, it is crucial that all road users, including those with mobility issues, can use public chargers easily.”
