The UK Government is set to approve the construction of around 10,000 new homes, featuring schools, healthcare facilities, and transportation links, inspired by King Charles's urban development projects in Nansledan, Cornwall, and Poundbury, Dorset. The Prime Minister praised the quality and design of these developments, particularly the integration of social housing that is indistinguishable from market-rate homes. The government aims for at least 40% of the new homes to be affordable.

Prime Minister said he was 'struck' by the quality of the design and construction of monarch's new urban development s

It comes after the Prime Minister visited the King’s new Georgian-style 4,000 home development in Nansledan, Cornwall, on a trip with the monarch earlier this week. The move raised concerns about dragging the King into politics, coming just days before Thursday’s announcement that the Government hopes will allow more people to get onto the housing ladder.

According to an interim report from the New Towns Taskforce, London, the South East, South West and East of England made up the majority of the 100 sites put forward for consideration for a new town development. The majority of the schemes are likely to be extensions to existing conurbations, but the Government has insisted that a handful of the projects will be entirely new towns, but ministers have refused to put a number on it or given an indication of where they will be located.

While the Government was unable to say when the new towns would be completed, the aim is for construction work to begin before the next election.
