David Wilson Homes has identified the main energy myths which are circulating online
A recent survey by David Wilson Homes has disclosed that a staggering 78 per cent of homeowners are actively seeking innovative methods to cut their energy costs with the onset of winter. Danielle Michalska-Morris, Group Technical Innovation Manager at David Wilson Homes, has debunked eight prevalent energy-saving misconceptions that are often found online.
Another myth she addressed was the idea of closing curtains or blinds during daylight hours. Michalska-Morris clarified that it's preferable to leave curtains open on sunny days to take advantage of solar gain, shutting them only at sunset to preserve warmth. She also cautioned that leaving appliances on standby does not conserve energy, and while placing aluminium foil behind radiators to reflect more heat into the room may seem like a good idea, it quickly deteriorates and is likely to fall off. Purpose-made radiator reflector panels, although pricier at around £20, could be a more efficient solution, reports Birmingham Live.
