With his motto, “Here for a good time, not a long time”, Joshua Santos Christian came to Australia four years ago “looking forward to what life has lined up for me”. “Gunna miss all my family and friends but mega excited for all the mad and wonderful people I’m gunna meet on my journey,” the 32-year-old Englishman wrote on Facebook in January 2020. Through the COVID pandemic, his social media profiles were filled with photos of the highlights of his life in Brisbane — beaches, parties, wildlife.
Tributes have rolled in, both from his circle of mainly expat friends in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and his loved ones in the Merseyside region of the UK. In a statement, his family and friends said he lived by his “mottos” of, “Living life in the fast lane”, “Here for a good time, not a long time”, and “Sexy first, safety second”. “A beautiful soul, with the purest energy, making everyone feel held and safe in his presence,” the statement read on a GoFundMe page.
