King Arthur's Hall, within a rectangular bank of earth and stone known as King Arthur's Hall, has been found to be 4,000 years older than previously thought, following new research

Archaeological revelations have unveiled that the King Arthur's Hall monument in Cornwall is around 4,000 years older than previously thought. This news was reported by Cornwall Live, casting a new light on the ancient earth and stone structure perched on Bodmin Moor.

Phil McMahon, an inspector of ancient monuments with Historic England, commented on their role in the discovery: "We have supported the investigations at King Arthur's Hall with grant funding and specialist advice to ensure that the cutting-edge scientific methods used to analyse the monument had the best chance of producing results."

Local volunteers joined in the excavation alongside specialist teams from the Universities of Reading, St Andrews, and Newcastle to investigate the site. Dr Tim Kinnaird of the University of St Andrews commented: "It's extremely exciting that we've finally been able to date construction of this enigmatic monument, previously grounded in myths and legends."

"The monument retains its mystery: there are no Neolithic parallels for a stone-lined sunken and embanked rectangular enclosure, possibly watery. We may presume it was a sacred site, a place for gatherings, for rituals or ceremonies, but perhaps Neolithic people made and used it for very different purposes."
