Lord Agnew, a Tory peer, argues that the UK government needs a department similar to Elon Musk's 'Doge' in the US to combat inefficiency and waste. He highlights the astronomical sums of money being wasted, exceeding even the £20 billion figure cited by Labour. Agnew emphasizes the need for a focused approach to address this issue, suggesting that the UK's government could learn from Musk's ambitious plans for efficiency in the US.
Tory peer Lord Agnew told LBC’s Tom Swarbrick that a version of Elon Musk ’s Doge department is ‘desperately needed’ in the UK to increase efficiency. Musk runs the new Department of Government Efficiency to "dismantle government bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure federal agencies".The efficiency department aims to cut waste within the government, as the tech billionaire forms a key part of Donald Trump’s new administration.
