The most affordable seaside town in the UK has been named - and it's on a remote island
The world of work has undergone significant changes in recent years. The rise of remote working and a growing dissatisfaction with the traditional nine-to-five grind has made the idea of living on a picturesque, wind-swept island realistic, and quite appealing.
Rothesay, located on the Isle of Bute, has been named as the UK's most affordable seaside town for buying property, with the average house price just £101,477, according to a study by Lloyds Bank. Despite its remote location, it's less than two hours drive from Glasgow, thanks to a bridge. Lloyds Bank has identified some of the most affordable seaside towns in the UK, with Greenock in Inverclyde and Girvan in South Ayrshire offering average house prices of £107,111 and £107,349 respectively. However, the most expensive coastal properties are located in the south of England, with Salcombe in Devon topping the list with an average price tag of a staggering £970,657, reports Birmingham Live.
The average cost of a coastal property across the UK stands at around £293,000. Amanda Bryden, Head of Mortgages at Lloyds Bank, commented: "Sea views, sandy beaches, brisk morning dips it's easy to see why coastal living is so desirable."
