The average Brit speaks at around 189 words per minute, but it turns out that can vary depending on where you live.
If you’re from Edinburgh, you’re in no rush to get your words out, as the Scottish capital is home to the slowest talkers in the UK, with an average rate of just 132.27 words per minute. The research, by online tutoring experts at Preply, calculated the average words said per minute in each of the UK’s ten most populated cities by analysingIn second place came the Brummies, with Birmingham speaking at a leisurely 164.21 words per minute, and Free Radio presenters in the West Midlands city talking at a speed of 156 words per minute.
